A Biography of Lee Lai Shan

Lee Lai Shan is a famous person who won a lot of medals in windsurfing. She was born in Cheung Chau on 5th September, 1970. There are ten children in her family. She is the eighth child. She is a hard-working and outgoing woman. When she was young, she wanted to be a policewoman. But in the end, she chose to be a windsurfing athlete.

She started learning windsurfing at twelve years old. She began to take windsurfing competitions at the age of 17 and joined the Hong Kong team at 19. In the beginning, she faced a lot of difficulties. But she kept on practice. She won her first gold medal at the World Windsurfing Championships in 1993. Three years later, she won the gold medal in the Olympics Games. She was the only athlete to win an Olympics medal representing Hong Kong. She showed the world that Hong Kong athlete could be a force to be reckoned with. She also won the Asian Games in 1998. Over the years, she has won many medals in international competitions. So people called her 'Queen of the wind'.

Although she has already retired, we will always remember her.
