Watching TV can dispel boredom and depression, so many families spend their leisure time watching TV. It is believed that watching TV affects teenagers in good ways and bad. Let’s discuss the advantages and disadvantages of watching TV.

Let’s start with advantages. Firstly, watching TV can provide us with free entertainment. Some TV programmes are educational for family and friends. Secondly, we can learn a lot from TV programmes such as world news, history, general knowledge and current affairs. Therefore, watching TV is beneficial to us.

On the other hand, there are disadvantages. Watching television is harmful to teenagers. Some TV programmes contain violence, sex and have a lot of undesirable language. Teenagers are immature, perhaps they will imitate the bad behaviors seen on TV, particularly. They might also misunderstand violence thinking it is good or right. Another point is that watching TV takes away a lot of our time, the disadvantage is we may lose the time and spirit to do other things. We may spend less time on homework or with our family and friends. Consequently, watching TV will affect our school work and interpersonal relationship.

In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages of watching TV. As long as we can plan our time carefully, allocate work properly, and choose TV programmes which are suitable for ourselves, watching TV can be good for us.
