An unforgettable experience

I had an unforgettable experience in Singapore this summer holidays. I went there for two weeks to learn English. I set off on 28th July. When I got to the airport, I saw my English teachers in this camp and the other students that I did not know. I followed my leader and lined up. Then we got on the plane. The flight took us three hours. I felt excited because it was my first time to go to Singapore and I went there on my own.

I made a friend on the plane. His name was Yolly. We always played with each other in the trip. When we arrived at Singapore, the leaders took us to the resort. After that, they gave the room keys to us. Yolly and I were in Room 1827.We had two more room mates and I was the leader in that room. We had English classes for the coming thirteen days. Our class teacher was Mrs Sheri. She was kind and funny. She always gave us sweets and told us jokes. Her class was fun. We liked her very much.

One evening, when I played with my friends in the room, the lights all went out. We were all very scared. ‘Take the torch in the cabinet and wait for the leader to come. Remember to stay clam!’ I shouted. The others got the torch immediately. The room was lit soon and we waited for the leader to come. After about 5 minutes, the leader came back and he praised me for being calm and helpful. I was so happy about that.

Time passed very soon. We didn’t have English class the last two days. We started to pack our things and cleaned our room. We had to check the stuff in our room like the cups, the bed, the

television …… At night, we took out our T-shirts and asked our friends to sign their names on them. We all wanted to remember our friends that met in Singapore. We exchanged our email addresses too so that we could keep in touch with each other.

For the last day we went to a photo shop and took the sticker photos. The photos were now stuck on my bed. There were a lot of machines that helped us to take photos in the photo shop. We chose one. When we finished taking our photos, we designed them. I added some words on them – 4ever fds. It means forever friends. We hope that we will be friends forever.

In the trip, I have learned a lot of English words and how to take care of myself. In the past, I always needed my parents to take care of me, but now I can handle many things by myself. I become more independent. I think the experience is valuable.
